Job Details

My client is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Purchasing Officer to join their growing team. If you thrive in a busy purchasing environment, bring strong ERP system experience, and have a deep understanding of stock control and bespoke manufacturing, I want to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of textile procurement within a collaborative and values-driven team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, this role is responsible for the end-to-end procurement of fabrics, leathers, and other materials within bespoke manufacturing operations. You'll play a key role in maintaining supply continuity, managing stock holdings, and ensuring optimal material usage across multiple projects and timelines.

They value cultural fit, initiative, and a willingness to learn - if you bring strong purchasing fundamentals and the right mindset then this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase and coordinate the delivery of manufacturing materials (fabrics, leathers, components).
  • Use ERP systems to manage stock levels, track purchasing activity, and ensure supply accuracy.
  • Monitor pricing and lead times; expedite orders to meet production deadlines.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, terms, and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage material issues, usage, and job allocations.
  • Analyse material usage data to maximise yield and minimise waste.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date material information in internal systems.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on purchasing trends, supplier performance, and stock levels.
  • Support purchasing activities for homewares, showroom stock, and assist with biannual stocktakes.
  • Carry out ad hoc duties to support the broader Purchasing Team.

What You'll Bring

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong experience working with ERP systems in a purchasing or supply chain role.
  • Proven stock management skills, with a focus on optimisation and accuracy.
  • Background in bespoke manufacturing, or the adaptability to thrive in a tailored, non-linear production setting.
  • Experience working in a busy, fast-paced purchasing environment with competing priorities.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to build relationships across departments and with suppliers.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and database systems.

Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in textile procurement or purchasing
  • Experience in local and international textile markets
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments where quality and timing are critical

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a values-driven team that is passionate about quality and creativity
  • Work in a supportive environment that recognises initiative and encourages growth
  • Make a real impact in a hands-on, fast-moving manufacturing setting
