Our client, a leading independent, faith-based primary school in Melbourne's west, seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Curriculum and Strategic Planning - Primary to lead curriculum development, drive pedagogical excellence, and support staff in delivering high-impact teaching and learning programs from Foundation to Year 6.

This key leadership role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the academic growth of students, while mentoring and empowering teaching staff. The successful candidate will work closely with Heads of Learning Areas and Domain Leaders to ensure the curriculum is strategic, compliant, engaging, and future focused.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and review of the primary curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the Victorian Curriculum and current educational best practice
  • Oversee scope and sequence planning, unit plans, assessments, and reporting processes across all year levels
  • Support HLAs and Domain Leaders in guiding staff with curriculum delivery, differentiation, and innovative teaching strategies
  • Ensure consistency and quality across documentation, teaching programs, homework, and assessments
  • Conduct regular audits of teaching and learning materials to maintain compliance with VCAA and VRQA requirements
  • Lead professional learning initiatives, classroom walk-throughs, and appraisal processes to strengthen teacher capability
  • Manage curriculum platforms and ensure teaching and assessment plans are well documented and easily accessible
  • Oversee NAPLAN, PAT testing, and strategic academic planning, working in partnership with leadership to analyse and act on data
  • Develop and implement improvement plans aligned with the school's educational priorities
  • Coordinate communication to families regarding curriculum programs, assessments, and academic expectations

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum 8 years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in curriculum planning and implementation
  • In-depth understanding of the Victorian Curriculum and national standards
  • Strong skills in mentoring and developing teaching staff
  • Effective communication, organisational and interpersonal abilities
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Experience managing academic audits, reporting requirements, and learning technologies
