About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Speech Pathologist to join a dynamic and supportive Dubbo (or Bathurst, Orange) team. The successful candidate will assess and treat individuals with communication disorders-including speech, language, voice, fluency and literacy difficulties-as well as clients with physical impairments affecting eating or swallowing. Registration or licensing is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Administering and interpreting a wide range of audiometric tests to determine hearing efficiency and identify sites of hearing issues
- Interpreting audiometric results together with medical, social and behavioural diagnostic data
- Evaluating total response patterns and acoustic tests to distinguish between organic and non-organic hearing loss
- Planning, directing and participating in counselling, speech reading and rehabilitation programs
- Prescribing appropriate hearing aids and instructing clients in their use
- Administering assessments and observing clients to determine the nature and extent of communication disorders
- Planning and conducting remedial programs for issues such as stuttering and articulation disorders
- Delivering individual and group therapy for clients with communication difficulties due to hearing impairment, cerebral palsy, surgery or injury
- Providing guidance on treatment for children experiencing difficulty learning to speak
- Counselling and supporting individuals with language impairments, as well as their families, teachers and employers
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Speech Pathology
- Registration or eligibility for registration in Australia
- Strong interpersonal, communication and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
