About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Labour Employee Relations Advisor to assist PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) employees.
As an Employee Relations Advisor you will play a pivotal role in supporting and promoting positive relationships between the employer and employees. The role will focus on implementing policies, resolving workplace issues, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Key Responsibilities:
- Providing support to employees by acting as a point of contact for employees with workplace concerns or grievances.
- Serving as a trusted intermediary for employees to raise and discuss workplace issues, ensuring confidentiality and providing a supportive environment.
- Facilitating the resolution of conflicts by mediating between employees and management, offering solutions aligned with company policies.
- Assisting employees in understanding and navigating company policies, ensuring they are informed of their rights and responsibilities.
- Clarifying procedures such as leave applications, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions, making the process transparent and accessible.
- Providing support for employees facing personal challenges, offering resources or referrals to appropriate support services where required.
- Offering specialized support, such as cultural orientation sessions, language assistance, and access to community networks, to help employees integrate and thrive in the workplace.
- Assisting in resolving disputes or conflicts between employees or between employees and management.
- Collaborating with management and HR teams to draft, review, and update workplace policies, ensuring they align with legal requirements and organizational goals.
- Conducting training sessions, workshops, or one-on-one meetings to educate employees about new and existing policies.
- Developing clear, accessible communication materials such as handbooks, FAQs, or digital resources to support policy awareness.
- Ensuring organizational practices comply with local, state, and national labour laws
About You:
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology or Welfare.
- An affinity to the cultures of Polynesian (Samoan) and Melanesian employees (Papua New Guinean and Fijian).
- Experience working with a culturally diverse workforce would be advantageous.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with workers, where English maybe a second language.
- Experience in HR practices and employment laws.
- Experience in labour hire or similar roles is highly recommended.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines effectively.
- Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, staying highly organized while managing various responsibilities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the PALM Deed would be advantageous, but not required, as learning can be done on the job.
