We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Mechanical Tradesperson to join a busy maintenance team supporting rollingstock and operational assets within a major sugar milling operation.

The Role

Working as part of the Rollingstock & Services team, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs and servicing of locomotives, breakvans and associated plant equipment to keep operations running efficiently during the crushing season and beyond.

This is a permanent full-time role with shift work during crushing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on diesel and mechanical equipment
• Fault find, repair and maintain rollingstock and operational machinery
• Complete inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance activities
• Assist with apprentices and provide guidance within the workshop team
• Complete work orders, maintenance logs and safety documentation accurately
• Support a strong safety-first culture across the site

What We're Looking For

• Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Diesel Fitting) or equivalent
• Experience working on diesel engines, heavy equipment or rollingstock
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
• Confined Space, Working at Heights and White/Blue Card highly regarded
